I'm all set ready to go as soon as the sun shines down, down on me I'm on my way, guaranteed No more frowns gonna slow me down now the lights shine down, down on me I'm on my way, guaranteed My feet step out and i'm moving forward now the sun shines down, down on me I'm on my way, I feel free I'll stand out from the crowd with my head up in the clouds now the light shines down, down on me I'm on my way, I feel free everyone says hello I'm gonna get where i wanna go I'm all set and ready to show you I'm on my way

In My Mind 04:56
Memories Bittersweet Linger on in fear I'm unsure and insecure Feeling lost forever In my mind In my mind it's clear If I rewind If I rewind the tears Pictures call waterfalls slowly see me melt There's relief in company Only time can tell In my mind In my mind it's clear If I rewind If I rewind the tears In my mind In my mind it's clear If I rewind If I rewind the tears Memories bittersweet Linger on forever now i'm sure we'll endure Try to make it better In my mind In my mind it's clear If I rewind If I rewind the tears

My word vault has a lot of words, plenty that sound like rhyme. I reach right in and grab a word, well looky here, it's time. Some days my words get all mixed up, like one big alphabet slime. But on other days, words flow with ease, a poet in their prime. Mono, mono, monotonous mono-rhyme x2 Words for the most part, gotta run free, just like a bell has to chime. And once in a while two words join as one, like when "I am" turns into I'm. So keep track of your words, they can be sickly sweet or bitter as a lime. And if words that you speak make you sound like a geek, then maybe you should be a mime. Mono, mono, monotonous mono-rhyme x2 Mono (repeat x8 til fade)

We lie back in the park to enjoy the sun There's no need for all the words When we're as one Conversation comes and goes hopes and dreams like the sunlight dancing through the autumn leaves Long may it stay this easy Under cover of the night You steal a kiss But stealing anything is hard With love like this We can shut away the world With our bedsheet With a laugh, with a kiss The moment's sweet Long may it stay this easy The unknown beckons But our hatches are battened down Simple bands on separate hands Connect and ground When the sun begins to rise So do we Another day, another night To share between you and me Long may it stay this easy Long may it stay this easy

They're the Greatest predator under the sea though they cannot float From their bones, or lack thereof, to their babies There's oh so much for you to know Yes they're sharks But they're really not quite that scary They have many quirks That can actually make them quite cool A group of sharks is called a gam, herd, pod or shiver. Sharks are the only animal that never get cancer They have enamel on their skin and don't have scales That means if you rub a shark the wrong way you'll probably cut your hand up. Bull sharks can live in freshwater and saltwater. They’re only shark that can do that. Yes they're sharks But they're really not quite that scary They have many quirks That can actually make them quite cool Often sharks will bite people to "test" them out to make sure that they're edible. They have special senses in their teeth. Sharks can go through up to 1000 teeth in a lifetime. They're constantly replaced. No matter what. Some sharks have 15 rows of teeth in their mouth at once. Even though they're fish, most sharks give birth to live babies.  A particular type of shark's babies fight in the womb and only the strongest survive Yes they're sharks But they're really not quite that scary They have many quirks That can actually make them quite cool Did you know, sharks are boneless. No bones. Just cartilage. Which means that usually if they stop swimming they will sink. So in order to sleep they either shut off half their brain and keep swimming or lie on the seafloor. Their brains are shaped like a Y, with the top bits going to each eye. They're the Greatest predator under the sea though they cannot float From their bones, or lack thereof, to their babies There's oh so much for you to know Yes they're sharks but they're really not quite that scary They have many quirks That can actually make them unique and cool in the world

I've got the sunshine and I've got my gin And I don't need to see you again You best keep yourself to yourself And away from me I've got my uke and I've got time Yeah, I don't need you in my life You best keep yourself to yourself And away from me In the summertime, when the weather's fine And you fancy a frolic in the sun You'd best remember, dear, that I was here And you wrecked all our fun I've got the sunshine and I've got my gin And I don't need to see you again You best keep yourself to yourself And away from me I've got my uke and I've got time Yeah, I don't need you in my life You best keep yourself to yourself And away from me When winter comes and your body longs for the warmth of another's sweet sweet skin I hope that you recall that I was all yours but you let my patience wear thin I've got the sunshine and I've got my gin And I don't need to see you again You best keep yourself to yourself And away from me You best keep yourself to yourself And away from me

Red was the colour of the sky above And red was the sound of your breath Red was my face when you first held my hand and Red was the way my heart leapt Oh oh ooohhhhh-oh x2 You’re my red love x4 Red were the roses you gave me that day Red were the strawberries we shared Strawberries are secrets, secrets are songs And red was the music in the air Oh oh ooohhhhh-oh x2 You’re my red love x4 Red was your laugh, how it lit up your face And red was the spark in your eye Red was the moment I knew it was true; Red is the rest of our lives Oh oh ooohhhhh-oh x2 You’re my red love x4 Red was the colour of the sky above And red was the sound of your breath Red was my face when you first held my hand and Red was the way my heart leapt

about

50/90 is The FiftyNinety Challenge, the marathon of songwriting where participants attempt to write fifty songs in the ninety days between July 4th and October 1st. Songwriters test their creative mettle by trying to create a finished song in less than 2 days every day for nearly 3 months.

During these 90 days participants encourage each other, collaborate, give and gain feedback on their new creations and push themselves to practice and refine their skills in songwriting. Whether long time vets of songwriting or picking up the pen for the first time, participants will grow their skills in making music... and just might have some fun along the way.

And this is the collection of some of the better songs to come out of my "win" in the 50/90 challenge of 2011.

The goal isn't for perfection, but for completion. Of one song. Any song. And by completing just one song at a time, and sharing it with a supportive community, working towards improvement as a songwriter, as a performer and as a musician.

Each track is pay what you want (including free - with an email address) to download. The album is $5 (or more) to download to help cover the free download credits. Anything you pay here goes towards making music, including a professionally recorded, produced and mastered EP released March 2015. So give what you want, or what you can, or wherever those two meet.
